Urban Aphrodite Presents: Hamlet, by William Shakespeare
Hamlet, The Prince of Denmark, is one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. With underlying themes of indecision, madness, revenge and secrecy, it has compelled audiences for the past 400 years to question their very existence. Hamlet enters the play at the wedding of his mother to his uncle who has recently been crowned King after the mysterious death of his father. He is haunted by his father’s ghost and told in no uncertain terms that his uncle, the new king committed the most unnatural act of murder and must be avenged. Incestuous relationships, gang-like dealings and underhanded scheming lead to the inevitably bloody end to this perfect: play.
