The summer holidays are fast approaching, which means us parents get to spend lots of time with our little angels! Don't get us wrong, this is great news, but let's be honest, Shanghai doesn't have an abundance of ways to keep kids occupied - so this is where we come in.
In this post we're going to give you a list of events and shows for you to enjoy for every week of the holiday (don't worry, we'll post weekly reminders as well!) So, let's get started! (links with more information are in the images and titles!)
Madagascar Live, June 16th - July 2nd - Based on the blockbuster DreamWorks film, Madagascar Live follows Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman
the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo from their home at New York's Central Park Zoo on an unexpected adventure to Africa.
Finding Dory, 17th June - The friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish reunites with her loved ones, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way.
Swan Lake on Ice, June 21st - 26th - The world’s premier theatrical ice skating company, The Imperial Ice Stars, come to Shanghai with their award-winning masterpiece Swan Lake on Ice.
Dora the Explorer Live, July 1st - 3rd - Dora is embarking on her most important mission yet in Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer Live! Search for the City of Lost Toys.
Shaun The Sheep, July 1st @ 7.30pm - The British 'animation drama' of the much loved Shaun the Sheep is coming to the Shanghai Culture Square at the beginning of July.
NBA Playzone Xintiandi, July 1st - 31st - 10 interactive features that include play courses that challenge children to jump and climb through a variety of obstacles, trampoline-based dunk zones, party rooms and a swaggy, on-site merchandise store.
Grug and the Rainbow, July 1st - 10th- "Grug and the Rainbow is amongst the best children’s theatre you will find; don’t miss this gorgeous show." - The Barefoot Review
Traces, July 8th - 10th / 15th - 17th - Seven circus geniuses set a new standard for what a modern circus can be.
Narrow, July 16th, 17th, 23rd & 24th - An intimate love story about one couple’s quest for domestic bliss. A big adventure in the boxes. While thinking totally out of the box.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, August 5th - 7th- Three beloved stories by Eric Carle, award-winning children’s book illustrator and author, are retold on stage through the magic of black light and fanciful puppets.
Taiko by Tamakko-Za, August 12th/13th- Tamakko-za brings its world-class Japanese drumming act to Shanghai's Daning Theatre.
Era, Daily @ 7.30pm - A multimillion-dollar stunning acrobatic extravaganza, the first of its kind in China, ERA is a multimedia odyssey whose inspiration is a direct result of the combination of traditional Chinese acrobatic arts and modern technology.
Jump 360, Daily - Jump 360 is a large trampoline and extreme sports park. They have sporting activities like obstacle courses, bubble football and archery tag.
